Your accounts are private.
We keep them that way.
ALTRmode reads and answers your messages and works in the tools you connect, so it has to earn your trust before it gets any of them. This page says plainly what protects your data, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how a company can review us.
at a glance
Six things that protect you
Off until you switch it on
Connecting a channel reads nothing. Only the threads you switch on are read, stored or sent to an AI model.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
TLS for every connection (unless you connect your own server over plain http); AES-256-GCM for messages, drafts, what it learns, files and every credential.
Never used to train AI
Our AI providers' terms forbid training on your data. Your data is never sold, shared or used for ads.
Two-step sign-in for everyone
Every account signs in with an authenticator app. Repeated wrong codes lock sign-in.
Our staff can't see your messages
Our internal tools show counts and statuses, never message text or who you talk to.
Deleted on a clock
Messages go after 90 days, switched-off threads after 72 hours, files after 7 days. Delete your account and everything goes.
your data is yours
Only what you switch on, used only for you
- Connecting a channel shows its threads, and nothing in them is read until you switch one on. You can only switch on threads you have been writing in yourself, so strangers and spammers never reach it.
- What ALTRmode learns from your account (your voice, your Playbook, your Life notes) is saved in your account and used only there. Nothing one customer teaches it ever reaches another customer.
- Your data is never sold or shared, never used for ads, and never used to train AI models. Our use of Google user data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
- Settings → Plan & account → Download my data saves everything we keep about you as one file. Disconnect deletes a channel's threads at once and ends our access at the provider where it allows that. Delete account removes everything.
encryption
Encrypted on the way and where it's kept
- Every connection to ALTRmode uses TLS, and browsers are told to use nothing else (HSTS).
- Message content, drafts, what your ALTR learned, summaries, notes, files and every credential are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they reach the database, so the database and its backups hold only ciphertext. The keys are kept outside the database and rotated under a versioned keyring.
- Each connected account's credentials are bound to the customer they belong to: copied into another account, they can't be opened. Credentials are never sent back to the browser.
- Files people send you aren't stored: they open from the original app each time, unless you hand one to a GENT.
sign-in and access
Only you get in, and you can see every device that did
- Two-step sign-in with an authenticator app is required for every account, with recovery codes shown once. Five wrong passwords or codes lock sign-in for 15 minutes.
- Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes, and every one-time link or code is stored hashed. Reset links last an hour and work once.
- A browser you don't mark as remembered signs out after an hour without activity. Settings → Plan & account → Security lists every signed-in device, and signs any of them out.
- Important actions on your account (signing in, connecting or disconnecting, changing what may be sent, downloading your data) are kept in a security audit log.
inside ALTRmode
Built so our own team doesn't see your messages
- Our support and admin tools show counts, statuses and scores, never message text or the names and addresses of the people you talk to.
- Access to production systems is limited to authorised people and logged.
- Our logs never record what your messages say, what the AI wrote about them, or any password, key or token.
ai providers
The AI models that write and check replies
To draft and check replies, the messages needed go to our AI providers: Anthropic, and OpenAI for some steps such as voice-note transcription. Both act as our processors under commercial terms that forbid training on your data; they may keep requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse. We don't keep the prompts we send, only what you see: your drafts and your Help and CTRL chats.
gents and connected tools
Agents that act only where, and how, you allow
- GENTs work with your own sign-ins and only where you let them work. Changes wait for your OK unless you allow a tool to act on its own.
- No GENT can buy anything for you, and an offer to buy something is never agreed to in your name.
- In the threads you switched on, every incoming message is checked for phishing, scams and dangerous files first. Nothing is drafted or sent for a flagged message, and its links are disarmed.
retention
How long anything is kept
| Messages in a thread you switched on | 90 days after they were sent |
|---|---|
| Everything about a thread you switch off | 72 hours after you switch it off |
| A disconnected channel's threads and what was learned there | At once |
| Files people send you | Not stored: opened from the original app each time, unless you hand one to a GENT (then 7 days) |
| Files you attach to a reply | Until the message is sent (a day if never sent) |
| Files you give a GENT, and files it makes | 7 days |
| Help and CTRL chats | 30 days after last use |
| Backups | Roll off within 35 days |
| Your whole account | At once when you press Delete account |
Details, including the few messages that wait up to a week longer while your ALTR finishes learning from them, are in the Privacy Policy.
for companies
Reviews, contracts and certifications
For companies
- Our Data Processing Addendum is part of the Terms, with the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK addendum for transfers; a countersigned copy is available.
- The list of providers that process data for us is in section 6 of the Privacy Policy, and we update it before adding one.
- Data is hosted in the United States. We tell customers about a personal data breach without undue delay, and within 72 hours where we can.
- On a team account, each member's integrations, threads and voice stay private to them.
- Running a security review or have a questionnaire? Send it to security@altrmode.com and we'll answer it.
Certifications
ALTRmode is in private beta and doesn't hold an independent security certification such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 yet. We list one here only once an independent auditor has issued it. Until then, the measures on this page are the ones our DPA commits us to.
report a vulnerability
Found a security problem? Tell us first
Email security@altrmode.com (or use the contact form, topic Security) with what you found and how to reproduce it. We'll confirm we got it and keep you posted until it's fixed.
- Test only against your own account. Don't access, change or keep anyone else's data, and stop and tell us if you come across any.
- No denial of service, spam, social engineering or physical attacks.
- Give us a reasonable time to fix it before you tell anyone else.
