how it works

A message comes in.
The reply you'd write goes out.

ALTRmode learns how you write to each person, drafts the reply you'd send, and asks you whenever it doesn't know. You decide, thread by thread, what waits for your OK and what may go on its own.

01

connect where you talk

Each app with its own sign-in. Nothing read yet.

You sign in on the app's own screen

Email, chat apps, help desks, review sites and project tools each connect with their own sign-in, and you approve exactly what's shared there.

Connecting reads nothing

You see the list of your threads. Not one of them is read, stored or learned from until you switch it on.

Only people you've written to

For email, only people you've actually written to are listed, so newsletters, receipts and cold mail stay out of the way.

02

switch a thread on

Only where you really talk.

A thread is a person, a group, a channel, an email thread or a project. You switch them on one at a time, and only ones you've been writing in lately can be switched on.

Strangers can't get in

A cold email, a new sender or a spammer has no history with you, so their thread stays protected: nothing there is read, stored or answered.

It learns from the history

Switched on, it reads that thread's history to learn how you write there. A bar shows how far along it is; a busy mailbox takes a few minutes.

Quiet threads rest

A thread nobody writes in for a while rests: nothing is drafted there, but it keeps what it learned and wakes by itself with the next message.

03

your voice, per person

It writes the way you write to them.

Style is learned per relationship: your length, tone, greetings, emoji, the language you use with that person, even lowercase or skipped punctuation. Only from messages you wrote yourself, never from replies it sent for you, so it doesn't drift.

Every edit is a lesson

Change a draft before you send it and it sees exactly what you changed (shorter, warmer, a different answer) and writes that way from the start next time.

Rules that win

Want something done one way everywhere? Write it in Voice (“sign off with just my first name”) and it beats what it learned.

You can see what it knows

Each thread shows what it learned about the person and how you write to them. Edit any of it, and what you write is treated as true.

04

one message, start to finish

From "can you…" to done, in your words.

Pick a step, or let it play.

hey! can you send me the Q3 deck before our call? also can we move it to Thursday?
05

review first, then automatic

You decide what may go on its own.

Every thread has its own MODE, and you can change it any time.

Review

every thread starts here
  • Every reply waits for you as a draft: send it, edit it, or write your own.
  • Each card shows how important the message looked, so you see how it judges things.
  • Nothing goes out until you press Send.

Automatic

unlocks once you've written there
  • Opens in a thread after you've sent a few messages there yourself.
  • Replies go at a natural pace: it waits until they've stopped typing, and in email takes about as long as you would.
  • Steps aside while you're typing in that thread yourself, and keeps to the hours you set.
  • You choose how important a message can be before it waits for you instead.

Out of your way while you type

While you're writing in a thread yourself, it writes nothing there on its own. Leave the thread and it answers what came in as usual.

You can still stop it

A reply waiting to go shows its countdown or the time it will go. Answer yourself, edit it or stop it until then.

Honest about it

Replies it sends on its own end with a short line saying they were automatic, linking to a page that explains it.

06

it asks instead of guessing

What only you know, it asks you.

It isn't with you, so it never guesses where you are, what you're doing or what you'd decide. It asks you, and you answer in the app, by email or right from the notification.

Questions only you can answer

“Are you coming Friday?”, a yes to an invitation, a detail only you have: it asks you, then puts your answer in the reply.

Important messages are yours

Money, commitments, deadlines, conflict or family: those are held for you to answer, in Review and Automatic alike.

Details it can't back up

A link, price, number or code that doesn't come from you or the conversation holds the draft, with what to check before sending.

Answer from the notification

Send a draft, answer its question or allow a GENT's step from the notification, without opening the app.

Your Life page

Tell it what's going on (who's visiting, a trip, what you're working on) and it answers from that instead of asking again.

Off when you need a break

One switch pauses everything on its own for a holiday or a day off, and it carries on where it left off when you're back.

07

what never goes out on its own

Some things always wait for you.

Sensitive messages

Urgent, legal, HR, security, personal or health matters are drafted but never sent without you.

Offers to buy anything

Never agreed to, never bought. A reply to an offer always waits for you, and it's never a yes.

Scams and phishing

Every message is checked first. A flagged one gets no reply and starts no work; you get a warning with its links switched off.

Nothing goes out until you say so.

Every thread starts on Review, and you can switch it off any time. Free for the whole beta.
